The city’s Moor Park is expecting thousands to turn up on Father’s Day to join in with the annual Cancer Research UK Race For Life, from 11am to 3pm.
Runners can sign up for either a 5km or – if you’re feeling particularly adventurous – a gruelling 10km run around the park’s course.

Hide AdThe nationwide “Race for Life” is the largest women only fund raising event in the UK, with races across the country all raising thousands for the cause.
Each year, the event arrives in Preston’s largest and oldest park, causing runners of all ages and abilities to turn out in force.
Many run the race in memory of loved ones they have lost to the disease. Many of those actually battling cancer themselves also join the throng of runners.
The organiser of the Preston race Maria Montgomery, Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life Preston event manager, said: “Come on ladies, join in and play your part by entering Race for Life in Preston.
“Together, we can hit cancer where it hurts.”

Many sign up in groups, keeping each other going as they tackle the course. In the past, groups have even worn T-shirts printed with the face of a loved one lost to cancer.
And the money raised goes to fund research into more than 200 types of cancer.
For more details or for entry forms, log on to the Race for Life website at raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org. Places are still available and the entry fee is £14.99 for adults and £10 for under 16s.
