Argos confirms closing date for its Chorley store

Argos has confirmed that the store in Market Street will close on Saturday, May 8.
It follows the permanent closure of standalone Argos stores in Leyland and Preston's Fishergate Centre during lockdown.

Hide AdIt means the nearest Argos branch to Chorley will be nearly 8 miles away inside Bamber Bridge Sainsbury's, where staff have been offered new roles.
An Argos spokesman said: "Our Chorley Argos store will be closing on May 8, 2021 and colleagues have been offered opportunities to redeploy to alternative roles within Sainsbury’s.
"Customers can continue to shop with us at our nearby stores, including Bamber Bridge Argos within Sainsbury's and our Horwich Argos Collection Point."
It is the latest Argos in Lancashire to close as Sainsbury's plans to shut 420 standalone branches across the UK.

Hide AdThe business, which is owned by Sainsbury's, plans to open 350 new stores inside its supermarkets, as well as new collection points at local convenience stores. It said it expects to save around £60 million as a result.
