A man has died after he was rescued from his blazing home.
George Michael Cronfield, who was in his 60s, was found lying on the floor of an upstairs bathroom of a semi-detached property in Hornby Road, Blackpool at 6.30am on Saturday.
Police say he was from Doncaster, South Yorkshire and was looking after the house when the fire broke out.
More than 20 firefighters were drafted in to tackle the blaze.
Residents of neighbouring homes were evacuated as fire crews smashed their way in through a side door.
Mr Cronfield was taken out of the house through a first floor window and rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital suffering from severe smoke inhalation.
Despite emergency treatment he later died.
Crews from Blackpool, Bispham and South Shore were called in as part of the rescue attempt.
It is at this stage not known what triggered the fire.
