Bin charges come into force
The controversial scheme was announced earlier this year, and leaders have urged householders to sign up.
Speaking at the latest full council meeting, Coun Robert Boswell, cabinet member for environment, said 14,400 properties had agreed to the scheme - with some having more than one brown bin.

Those who choose not to subscribe to the scheme will have their brown bin removed.
Concerns were raised at the meeting that residents could not get through to on the telephone to register their bin, and Coun Boswell said it needed to be “reviewed” for next year.
