Man jailed after police stop ambulance carrying family at supermarket

Officers were called to the scene at Asda in Harpurhey, Manchester, on Wednesday night.
Blessing Mukaukirwa, 32, of no fixed abode, was later charged with single counts of driving while disqualified, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, using a vehicle with unauthorised blue lights and failing to appear at court.

Hide AdThe Zimbabwean national appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and admitted offences of driving while disqualified and with no insurance.
He was jailed after his convictions activated a suspended sentence imposed by magistrates in June 2019 for other driving offences.
Traffic officers had earlier tweeted that the vehicle arrived at the supermarket with blue flights flashing and the occupants went inside to do their shopping.
The ambulance is believed to have been bought second hand.
