Luke Jenkinson, 25, of Birkdale Drive, Ashton-On-Ribble, Preston, caused a graze to worker Nizamuddin Gajra at the Late Shop on Lancaster Road on February 21 after an earlier encounter in which the suspicious shopkeeper noticed he was trying to use a bank card with a female's name.
Prosecuting, David Traynor said Jenkinson became annoyed and threatened to stab him, hurling a glass bottle at him.

He added: " He was armed with a large serrated machete.
"As the defendant entered the shop he swung the machete towards a customer's abdomen and he was forced to jump back out of the way.
"Another customer tried to shut the door on him but he swung the machete at him."
The court heard he threatened Mr Gajra's brother and also caused damage by swinging the blade at the shop door.

Mr Traynor added: "Police attended and he discarded the machete behind a pillar and ran away but was caught after a short chase.
Jenkinson, who has 41 convictions for 72 offences, admitted assault, possession of a weapon and two commercial burglaries in the Preston Docks area a month earlier, with several other burglaries to lie on the file.
He was previously jailed for 33 months for assisting murderer Nathan Richardson, who stripped, kicked and stamped on jogger Wen Qing Xu, 65, on New Years Day 2017. Judge Simon Newell said: "You were refused service because of the credit card. It seemed perfectly reasonable, but that seemed to annoy you."
