A car burst into flames on the M6 northbound.

The northbound carriageway was blocked northbound between junctions 31 (Samlesbury) and 31A (Haighton) at approximately 6.30pm on Tuesday (July 19).

National Highways said this was due to a car fire and emergency services were at the scene tackling the flames.

Three lanes reopened past the scene at around 6.50pm, with one lane remaining closed for recovery.
