Doctors have finally solved the mystery of Callum Davidson's niggling knee problem and assured the Preston North End defender it is not serious.
The full-back was given the good news this week after pulling out of Saturday's game at Watford with yet another recurrence of the
injury which has so far blighted his season.
The diagnosis was a slight strain and minor damage to his posterior cruciate ligament. But no surgery is necessary.
"There is a little bit of damage there, but not anything significant," manager Alan Irvine told the Evening Post.
"Thankfully it doesn't need an operation. Callum has been told to see how it feels. There is no timescale on it, we will simply monitor how it goes.
"We are hoping it will settle down in a couple of days. But there is no need to rush him with not having a game this weekend.
"He could be training by the end of the week, although we will probably err on the side of caution and wait until next Monday and see how it is.
"The important thing is we get it right and he doesn't come back until he is feeling perfectly okay."
