Here's the reaction from our fans' panel to the Preston North End defeat against Swansea City
John Roper
It's a bit difficult to know where to start with this defeat.
The positives in last night's defeat to Swansea were we started quite well, and that McEveley had a solid debut, although he did seriously blot his copybook by giving away a penalty.
The back four were generally sound – but I'm afraid that is where the positives end.
Lonergan should have done much better with the Swansea opener. Yes it was a good strike but it was right down his throat.
I think some competition for the No.1 shirt would help both club and player.
The midfielders were not incisive with their passes and too often it took several touches to get the ball under control, and we had no width.
Finally, the front two had precious little to feed on again except for 40-yard balls punted up to them by the centre halves.
Brown should be partly excused his poor display as he is certainly not 100% match-fit and Mellor did look dangerous with the one or two balls played into the channels.
Irvine has shown faith in a group of players and that is commendable for a manager. But we have hit a brick wall and now is the time to change things.
Some players are not in the right state of mind now and need to be changed.
The last two performances have been poor by anyone's standards – it's time to shuffle the pack, Alan.
Luke Gale
This was another shocking performance, but it could have been so much different if we'd have taken our chances early on and been more clinical in front of goal.
We seemed to be lacking in confidence going forward and when gifted with chances, we failed to take them.
The midfield also has to take some responsibility for our lack of goals as McKenna and Carter have been appalling in recent games and our lack of creativity in the final third is apparent.
Alan Irvine has to make some drastic changes to his side, and look at different systems and formations for Watford on Saturday, to stop this current slump.
Our mistakes proved to be our downfall with Lonergan failing to keep out another long-range effort, and debutant Jay McEveley gifting a late penalty after some poor defending to condemn us to our third straight defeat.
