A motorcyclist suffered shoulder injuries after he swerved to avoid a cow on a rural road near Lancaster.
The 48-year-old was travelling along Hollins Lane, Forton, when the beast appeared in the middle of the road at 5.30am on Thursday.

He fell off his black Suzuki bike as he tried to avoid colliding with the cow.
Police are now investigating how the bovine came to be in the middle of the road and whether or not she had jumped over a fence.

A spokesman said: "We are investigating how she managed to escape the field as the fence was not damaged. The cow had a lucky escape."

The man was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. The cow was unharmed.
